Writer shares years of knowledge about spirits to help a mom and daughter

Many folks like myself have spent many years writing. In my case, that has involved being a journalist for newspapers, as well as preparing newsletters and blogs on various topics. Now as a senior, I hope to share info to help others do the same, as well as compare life experiences.

I also plan to rewrite some of the countless stories that have come my way. They include everything I have learned about writing (linkedin.com/in/martha-jette-9958882?originalSubdomain=ca), all things paranormal and more.

What follows is just one story written a number of years back. I hope you enjoy it!

Sharing space with spirits can be frightening

Most of the time, people do not even realize that they might be sharing their home with someone who has passed over. That's because most spirits go on to find peace in the light. However, there are instances where a spirit might stick around in the physical real.
I received an urgent email a few years back from a woman who lived with her daughter in an apartment in Guelph, Ontario. She was distressed by spirits who decided to take up residence with her and her teenage daughter Madeline. Since I had written extensively on such topics, have had some paranormal experiences of my own and have been part of a couple of ghost hunting teams, she thought I might be able to help her.
Lorraine expressed that she was just about at her wits end. She said they had lived in the apartment for about nine months before any paranormal activity began. She also noted that she always had special gifts including clairaudience (clear hearing), clairvoyance (clear visibility) and claircognizance (knowing things from unknown sources). Never the less, when a young blond-haired, blue-eyed boy appeared to her during an electrical storm on April 26, 2006, she was stunned.
“It was the most unbelievable thing that ever happened to me,” she wrote.
Lorraine was not terribly concerned about the young spirit until he appeared to Madeline in August 2008, which caused her to be afraid. She also began seeing orbs and lights in her room at night, and was being pushed into walls by an unseen entity. She also saw a young woman from the back standing in her bedroom. The spirit was dressed in white but shrouded in a “violet, whitish, grayish” hazy fog. The girl was so frightened that she ran into her mother’s bedroom. On another occasion, she was visited by her deceased grandmother, who appeared in her room and was touching some trinkets she had given to her granddaughter.
Lorraine was going through her own personal trauma at the time too. She was highly distraught over the loss of her mother on August 31, 2008 and cried often. One day, she heard her mother talking in the hallway. She also felt her hair being touched. She still had her mother’s ashes in the apartment and although I noted that this might not be a good thing in her situation, I felt her mother's visit were due to something else. In her email to me, Lorraine noted she was suffering from deep depression. Because of this, I explained that her mother was most likely returning in an attempt to comfort her. As a result, the deceased has become earthbound.
Lorraine decided to give the ashes to her brother in hopes that things would settle down.
Unfortunately, they did not.
“Last night at 12:45 am, I had another experience,” she wrote. “I had fallen asleep on the couch... just dozing, not in a deep sleep when all of a sudden comes this crash! My kitchen chair (heavy white-iron) had fallen to the floor in the dining room. That definitely got my attention! My cats were freaking out.”
Another night while Lorraine was in bed, she heard a voice in her ear she believed was a friend named Rita who passed over on October 7, 2008. Yet another night, she heard a loud voice in her ear that said, “HELLO!” She described the accent as being American nd the voice happy and rather chirpy - “kind of vaudeville” sounding.
By January 2009, both Lorraine and her daughter were pretty fed up by the presence of spirits in their home. Madeline was having a terrible time trying to sleep at night. Lorraine was increasingly concerned about her daughter’s mental and physical well being. With regard to Madeline being pushed and shoved by an unseen entity, Lorraine wondered if it might be the handiwork of a teenage male spirit she had seen in the apartment as well. She had done a little discrete digging into any events that might have occurred in her building that could possibly account for this. To her surprise, there was a teenage boy who committed suicide two to three years back in an eighth floor apartment.
Lorraine is on the second floor. However, what she learned floored her.<BR>
“The description of the boy is exact to what I saw, but why show himself to me?” she asked. “It was uncanny that the very same week (prior to the event), I had talked to the mother and sisters of this boy, and he WAS very much on my mind all week. I felt such an affinity toward him, being a mother myself of four children. It also turns out that a friend of my sons and daughters actually knew the boy and went to school with him. (He was around 14 years old and he hung himself in his mother's bathroom. He was depressed, which is all I know, as I find it too painful to ask any questions of anyone, especially about such a sorrowful and terrible tragedy.”
After hearing of her experiences, I along with my two daughters made arrangements to visit Lorraine and Madeline at their apartment. We have all seen spirits in the past and had conducted safe seances. Lorraine’s daughter Stephanie, who was 22 at the time, was also present. Stephanie excitedly told me that, that same morning she heard her grandmother yelling up the stairs for her to get up. I guess grandma knew we were coming and it would prove to be an interesting day. Also present was a friend of Stephanie’s, as well as a fellow named Jason. This fellow had collected hundreds of photos of spirit orbs and UFOs over the years.
We began with some casual conversation in the living room. During this time, I suggested that perhaps the teenage boy was responsible for pushing Madeline around. Then we moved into the back bedroom where most of the activity had occurred. There we set up a table to prepare for the seance. At first, we did not have much luck and then my mother Vera, who passed over years ago, came to talk to us. I should explain that the way I conduct seances is not with an Ouija board (I’ve had bad experiences with them in the past.). I prepare my own letters and numbers on cut out pieces of paper and lay them around the table in a circle. Instead of a planchette, I use a light glass or teacup, which all participants place their index finger gently upon. I should also add that my mom had come to talk quite a few times in the past and always impressed me with her ability to communicate in the aforementioned manner.
We suspected that there were a number of spirits in the apartment and my mother confirmed this fact. She referred to one of them as a baby, so I asked if she meant to the little boy. When she said yes, and that she was quite concerned about him, I asked her if she could take him to the light. Of course, she agreed to do.
I also asked mom what Lorraine should do about the other spirits.
“Ask them to leave,” she said bluntly. Then she added something that astounded even me.
“Don’t worry people,” she said, “because there is no death.” I asked if reincarnation was valid and she said, yes, we do come back.
Lorraine’s mother then stepped in with a message for her granddaughter, Madeline: “Be good.” Lorraine and Madeline both chuckled at this and agreed that grandma always said that. Her grandma also said, “I love you,” to both of her granddaughters.
We all chatted afterward and were happy that mom had rescued the little boy. As to the other spirits, I gave Lorraine some sage incense and advised her to burn it while demanding any spirits still present to get out of the apartment immediately. I also reminded Lorraine that mourning her mother’s death would not only keep her mother from moving on, but would also leave the door open to other spirits. My daughters also talked with her about these things. Of course, I knew this would be difficult for her but I hoped she would be able to let go at some point, which would be beneficial for both of them. My daughters and I knew that the paranormal activity under such circumstances would likely continue but left with fingers crossed that it would not.
For about a month following our visit, all seemed quite in Lorraine’s apartment. Then Lorraine wrote to say she has been pushed. She added that Madeline was experiencing orbs and lights in her bedroom again making it difficult to sleep. Unfortunately, I was unable to return to their apartment but did contacted a couple of ghost investigators on her behalf. I also suggested she should burn the sage again and keep demanding that the spirits leave. She was to tell them they had passed over and did not belong there. It was her apartment and they needed to get out!
Let's hope she took my advice and all is serene once more. I should also note that I took photos during our visit with Lorraine and Madeline. In two photos taken in the living room, there are large spirit orbs. Another was taken in the bedroom where the seance was held and an orb can be seen floating above the table.
