Project Exodus and Other Things

Hi Everyone!

Are you all ready to begin with Project Exodus? I’m going to try and put a whole lot of information into this one communication, so bear with me!

We have been doing contract work, and as you have seen first-hand, the clients don’t know what they want.  The think they want one thing, and we get started and actually come close to finishing and the client decides this isn’t want he/she wanted after all.  Well, we are hoping to change all that with Project Exodus.  One part of Project Exodus is to spin the content that we have on places like AC and Factoidz.  We have to create completely unique content that isn’t already published on the Net.  When we publish our articles on Bangari Content Gallery - the public site - we will run them through Copy Scape.  If anyone plagiarizes our work, our company will go after them and make them pay.

A good part of our work on Bangari Content Gallery will be speculation work.  That is work that we know potential clients are interested in purchasing.  We have the keywords for those articles already.

Carol and I did a lot of work for a client that makes calendars.  We did a whole set of articles on ADD and ADHD for that client.  Instead of doing contract work, we could write the articles up in advance and then place them on the gallery for sale.  Then the client is directed to shop on our gallery.  Instead of her ordering articles, and then not knowing exactly what she wants, she will see articles that are already written and fall in love with them and buy them.  Rather than the client telling us what they want and then changing their minds, we tell the client what they want by showing them what we have on the gallery. The articles for this particular potential client will be on home schooling.  Rather than say too much here, I’ll give Kevin room to talk about this topic when he gets around to it.

There are things that we will have to learn prior to getting our feet wet with this project.  We are going to have to learn about link building.  We must all have a good understanding of SEO and we also need to understand how to use backlinks, reciprocal links, and incoming links.

Backlinks: (Information obtained from Wikipedia)

Backlinks are put into the content and they point back to our site.  Other names for backlinks are incoming links, inward links, inlinks, and inbound links.  All the links used in our articles will point back to us. Whoever buys our content will place it on their website and the backlinks will point to our website at Bangari Content Gallery.  BCG is a top level (.com) domain, so we will put backlinks into our content that will bring views to http://bangaricontentgallery.com/ . Kevin will be teaching us about using backlinks when he gets home to Vermont.  He will be making a video that we can watch and learn from.

Gmail

In the meantime, everyone needs to have a gmail account.  If you have a gmail account, you will not have any problems viewing and making comments on the blogs.  Beverly cannot access the blog (and I’m not sure about the (Bangari Site).  Every time she goes to the blog her computer crashes.  This might be because she doesn’t have a Gmail account.

Plans

I was talking with Kevin today, and I think I understand his plans, but he can come in and correct me if I am wrong.  Our company will have two divisions; in other words we will have a blend of contract work like we have been doing and speculation work that will go on the gallery.  The important thing will be to work with Google and not against it.  We will need to understand how to work with the Panda changes.  If we don’t learn how to work smart with Google, we will just be another low ranking site in Google and we don’t want that.

Lots of writers are trying to game Google to get their rankings up.  We have to learn how to work with them and not try to trick Google, because we will lose if we do. This is getting over my head, so I will stop here, and leave any other communications about this with Kevin.

Blogs:

We should all have blogs of our own.  I have one right now that is private.  It is not linked to the Net and it is not linked to the directories.  Once my articles go on the Bangari Content Gallery, I will let my blog go live.  I would suggest that you create a blog for your work AFTER your work goes live on the gallery, and NOT before.  We don’t want any duplicate content on the Net until after our content goes live on BCG.  Once the article goes live on the gallery, we can put backlinks into our work that points to http://bangaricontentgallery.com/.

Forgive me, if I get this wrong. I hope I have told you all correctly.  There are probably others here more qualified than I am to be giving out this information.

Thanks!

Sally

  1. Hmmm .. I notice that part if it is in white and some isn't.. not sure if it shows that way to everyone.

  2. Thanks Sally. It all seems to be in black for me, with red links. Looks nice.
OK I have a couple of concerns:
    1. If the entire article is on the gallery it WILL be ripped off. No ifs, ands, buts. I've seen a couple of sites in the past (will try to find them) and they either put up a snippet, just to give the buyer an idea of our writing ability, or they have samples that can be bought for a low fee and then applied to the real purchase, or they have the programming to block copy/paste for their site. (wish I knew how).
    2. If we put our work on our own blogs AND on the Bangari gallery, it will be seen as duplicates, and that is one of the problems with panda: it seems to pick the stolen copy over the original a LOT, from what I've read. So if we want to use our blogs to give backlinks to the gallery it has to be done differently. We have to write a separate article about either Bangari OR about the topic of the article on display on the gallery, and within that short article we link directly to Bangari gallery or actually directly to the actual article(s) we are promoting.
I hope that makes sense. I am still coughing my head off, but trying to think clearer now.
    3. I still am only getting some notices and not all when the blog is updated or commented on. And still having some other problems here -- don't know why because I have a bunch of gmail and google blogs, so I should be good to go.

  3. Thanks Teal...you are more knowledgeable than I am on this. I think the snippet is best like on Constant Content.. they don't have the full article up there...

I see your point on the blog writing about the gallery and the article... that makes sense to me. I was wondering about the blog showing a duplicate.. maybe I didn't understand Kevin right... all this is above my mentality.. really.

I hope you do get to feeling better and hope your daughter is doing okay too.

When I make blog posts from now on I will use the email to notify everyone. Kevin taught me how to make an email to the group... dumb me didn't know how! :)

  4. Thanks, Sally. We all have our areas we've worked in most. :) I forgot, I also wanted to mention the contracts.
Someone -- was it Sally or Carol? -- posted something a while back on this blog about ways to keep the client in line. It was really good! We can't allow them to change their minds without paying more for the new work.
I watched a friend of mine start her business building websites and go thru the same thing we all just went thru. They tell you what they want and you give them a price, and then you (we, anybody) are eager to please them and get more business, so you show them and say how do you like it? Next thing you know they want a million changes -- at the original price. I don't even think they realize what they are doing, it's just that when they see the work, they get more ideas. So the only way to fix that is to set a definite price for specific work -- VERY specific work. The client has to write down SPECIFIC directions for how they want it done, and no price is quoted or work is done til we know that they/we understand and agree. Then it's written up and signed, whether in person or by electronic sig. THEN, if our work is inferior and they have a legit complaint, according to the agreement, we of course must fix it -- but no vague nonsense. And if they want changes, that's fine: pay for the original work, make a new agreement and pay for that separately. And that reminds me, Kevin. ODesk has some kind of program where you can set up your little business like Bangari, and they help by providing tools and support for dealing with getting paid. Not sure how much it costs, but it might be worth looking into, because it would help insure we get paid.

  5. that is what I have been asking in my article, what are the safeguards for plagiarism. Half the article or part of the article like on constant content is what we need to be putting up

    ReplyDelete
  6. Sally found the program that blocks copy and paste. We will implement that...somehow. A lot of this tech stuff stumps me too, and it's so tedious, it prevents us from doing what we do best.

We can't mess around with clients anymore. Even the ones we have, we'll write and post the content they want. They don't like it...they don't buy it and someone else does. In the meantime, we rack up passive income. No proposals, no scope creep, no bullshit.

Teal, you're right to worry about duplicate content. Even though it seems like Panda favors the stolen content, it really doesn't. It is getting better and better at sniffing it out. Where it gets posted first is what really matters. Ultimately, it's the TBS robot that is going to give us the edge with this stuff. We need to be some serious brainiacs with that thing! I want to master "data merge" I got some good ideas on how we can collaborate on that, and clean up!

We're going to put "spun out" articles, complete, on our blogs after we put the best spun out and added to (pics and video) piece on BCG. our blogs will point to Bangari Content Gallery. We each need a seperate blog just for the work we do for BCG.

This is a good discussion. I wish everyone was in on it! We will get out more details, and like Sally said, soon I'm going to video some "white board talks" and put those on Bangari Blog too. We'll get this worked out. Project Exodus is key! That in conjunction with, let's call it "keyword spec work" instead of "contract work" will bring us to the top.

  7. What is the proceedure for removing articles from the content farms, is it different for different sites?

    ReplyDelete
  8. I know we are all anxious for this thing to take off, but patience is critical. We are working toward the end of "content farm" mentality. This won't happen over night. If we do this right we can change the face of internet content writing and open doors for others. I will be the first to admit that I am old school. I still prefer writing on my typewriter (a manual Royal from the fifties). There is alot about internet content I don't understand and need to learn. Hopefully, we can work together to combine our creativity, personal expertise, and ability to write to develope a strong and sustainable enterprise that will benefit not only ourselves but the entire internet as well.

  9. BTW What time zone is this thing on? I noticed my comment said it was made at 6:21 AM. Actually it was 9:30 AM here in Ohio.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I don't know the time zone of the blog.. I am in the Eastern Time Zone and so is Kevin... but don't know the time zone that this blog is set for.

  11. Imagine a few years down the line having a get together and meeting each other face to face! So we are in Vermont(GMT-5), Ohio(GMT-5), Israel(GMT+2), where is everyone else?

  12. Yes Petal! That would be awesome...You mentioned it first, so that means you have to host it! What better place to celebrate the success of Project Exodus than in the Promised Land!

  13. @ Richard: I think I have the blog set for somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean...Oh well!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I don't think we will being taking our content down from the content farms...The idea is to:

    1) Catoregize it, grouping it in a "body of content"

    2) Flat spin, nested spin and data merge the ever-lovin' crap outta it, so we will have countless spun out versions to sell, post on our own domains, and post all over the Internet in a strategic, white hat link building campaign.

    3) Add to it, e.g. Pics, audio/video and reader comments so that Google Bots will love it more.

And we do all this wile being very careful that we don't so much as smell like a content farm or a site that sells manure to other content farms or black hat SEOs like the douche bags we just worked for.

Then, I have a plan (Teal understands this even better than I, and has written about it on her blog) to get backlinks from those content farms pointing to Bangari or our personal sites like the one Sally recently set up to back up every thing she has ever written.

It's cool to have multiple sites, sanctioned for different subjects and what not...But we all need that one site that promotes us as individual writers. On that site should be a spun out version of everything you have ever written.

I think, like Richard, we are all "old school" in some way -I still can't type w/o looking at the keyboard and only use four fingers and a thumb (spacebar) But we all have aptitudes to learn new things...We need to become robot masters...I'm becoming more and more of a believer in this technology, and as I said in the email I sent out today, we can even make a little revenue selling it and as we become "masters" also drive traffic to Bangari by teaching it and discussing what we are learning about it. This will recruit others to our team too.

@Carol: Let's take a different approach than Constant Content. Let's not be paranoid about people "stealing our content. Google is going to sniff out these "scraper sites" and totally devalue them. We can also use Copyscape to find it out there, and wherever we do, come down on the theives like black rain...one of my funnest things to do, right? We can at least get "backlinks out of it, and from those who express the proper level of contrition...new recruits!

    Whadda yous guyz think?

    ReplyDelete
  15. @ Teal: Please write a post under a new heading, that explains how we can get backlinks from the content farms we formerly contributed to. Like you did regarding eHow. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  16. @ Sally: get everyone a link to your blog where you are backing up all your content. If everyone is okay with blogger, then let's all go with that. Then set up a new Post with the heading "Bangari Content Producers Domains"

You will be in charge of that post. Have everyone email you links to all their domains, including their new "clearing house" Site/Blog...As a matter of fact, cuz I like uniformity...and there are a lot of cool connotations to the term "clearing house" even an EU Counter terrorism intelligence one, I'd like to propose that we all name this site of ours " Sally Collins Published Content Clearing House " of course replacing Sally's name with our own.

After Sally gets this done, let's all follow each other at all domains listed. Remember, avoid two things like Poison Ivy: Duplicate Content and Click Fraud

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'll get at that sometime today or tomorrow Kevin.. I have my day planned out for me today getting rid of ants! or finding where they are coming in.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Kevin so do you want the names of our other blogs etc that we currently have online? We can use them for backlinks. What about Squidoo lenses, I have some that we could place backlinks on.When you say a spun version you mean without the {|} right, in other words a rewritten/spun article. Titles should be different too right?
    Petal
P.S. I'll gladly have you all over to visit!

    ReplyDelete
  19. SO we call the individual blog
"Petal Mashraki Published Content Clearing House" but what do we make as the link, this title is too long for the link name.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hi Petal!

Yes. Let's get Sally links to all of our blogs and sites. Then we can all follow each other. That is excellent for link building. Where everyone contributes to this blog, with an outgoing link to each of our personal blogs, it will help the rankings of those.

If you can get links from Squidoo, and other high ranking sites (even if they're content farms) like Factoidz, AC, etc...great. Build those links so they go TO your personal blogs and sites, and TO Bangari Blog AND Bangari Content Gallery.

For the final piece, link your personal blogs to BCG (the wordpress site, NOT here to the Bangari Blog)

Confusing enough for ya? LOL...Try to follow these instructions carefully. We are building what's called "linkwheels" this way. We are avoiding "reciprocal links" and making all the backlinks count!

    As for the spinning terminology...

Hand spin- putting choices in the { | | } format without using the robot

Robot spin- using the TBS robot to auto select synonyms. This adds the { | | } automatically.

Flat spin- putting selections in { | | } format. with or without using the robot.

    Nested spin- putting choices in { | | } and then putting more within the parenthesis. This is also known as second a level of spinning. E.g.;

    {Treat {pets|animals} nicely|Be {gentle with|kind to} animals|Don't be {mean|cruel} to God's creatures}

Data merge- This is something the robot can do that is like a data base function. We can write a bunch of blurbs, assign them a 2 digit code, and then juggle around the codes so it puts those blubs in. This saves a lot of time. two letters will be replaced with whole spun paragraphs.

Spun out- I'm using this term to describe the unique articles that the robot produces from the spun content.

You have it right about how to name the blog where you will back up your content. Just be careful of posting any duplicate content. Make sure to only use "spun out" articles that are at least 60% original.

Don't worry about the link names. The robots just "count" the links. They read the content as a whole, paying attention to keywords. When we connect our "clearing house" blogs to BCG, I would do it via our names.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hi Kevin
That clears up a lot of my questions but the individual blogs called:
"Petal Mashraki Published Content Clearing House"- what URL should we give them? Something shorter right? Also tried posting my blog URLs here on the post you asked and they didn't come up as URLs, will try again. I've been looking at PR of my blogs, I have several with zero, some with rank of 1 and one blog with rank 3 and a few Squidoo lenses with rank 3. Some of my Blogs have links to Factoidz articles but as soon as I spin and put the redone versions on my clearing house site I'll swap the links.

    ReplyDelete
  22. You can use the entire name. What's brilliant (pat's self on back) about these titles is:

    1) it utilizes our names first..very unique, but meaningful keyword. This will allow the total name to be available to each of us...I hope!

    2) it utilizes two common but focused (on what we all do) keywords: published and content

    3) it uses a long tail keyword "clearing house" that along with "published" could trick a search engine to return our sites in the results for a search for "publishers clearing house" as in "Ed Machmon's thing"

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hi Kevin

Should we cross reference our articles when categorizing them for example if a title is:
"How to choose the right pet dog for your child" should we put it under the category "Children" and under "Pets" or just choose one?

So the job at hand is:
    1. Copy and save our content farm work on our computers.
    2. Spin each article out to be a "new article.
    3. Categorize the articles.
    4. Open a new private Blog not yet public and put on it the "new" ex-content farm articles plus our category list.
    5. Wait till the BCS site is ready to receive the articles.

    Have I got this right?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hi Petal!
1)Close! Save it to your hard drive if you like, but you should make a file in Google Docs. I found a feature that makes it easier to use "the Best Spinner" when the article was written in Google Docs.

2)Right, "handspin" the article, you know, choose alternative sentences and phrases with the { | | | } system...

    3) Have a master list of categories with titles underneath. When articles cross over a couple categories, like you mentioned...that is good. We will just put a spunout article in each category. (one version for "children" and one for "pets"

    4) Right. A version will go on a blogger blog called (Writer's name) Published Content Clearing House. I used the same template as bangari blog for "uniformity"

    5) Bangari Content Gallery (remember it's BCS (Studio) and BCG (Gallery)the Studio is the private site...the Gallery is where we display the finished product for revenue and for sale. It's ready to go..My first spun out article, formerly posted at Factoidz, is going to be posted by Sanya soon. I already posted a spunout version at Kevin Leland Published Content Clearing House.

I'm going to hire some of you to do some spinning on mine. I'll post it soon, under "new work on the blog.

    4)

  25. OK Sorry for being slow on the up take but...

so lets say I have content farm orginal and I spin it get it in the {||} form, then I what?

I understood up until making the Original article unique then putting it on our personal blogs, but what are we going to do with the spun versions? Sell them each individually or to the same customer?

After I have it in {|||} I need a robot to un spin it and get three versions right?

Then what do I do with the three versions or do I leave it in the {|||} format?

I thought we were making one "new" version of the content farm original to post and sell.

    ReplyDelete
  26. By the way PetalMashrakiPublishedContentClearingHouse is too long and not accepted as a Blogger URL! Maybe I'll just go with Petal...

  27. You're not slow on the uptake...It's my plan and instructions that are all over the place! Bare with me as I boil it down to simple instructions, however, do your homework on SEO, linkbuilding, The Best Spinner, cloud computing, the Panda change...so you will understand the "why" behind the "how to" As founders of this, we need to know that so we can work together to set up the systems...Once they are in place and working well, new recruits can just "follow along" going through the steps, achieving success for themselves and the rest of us, without even knowing how or why it works.

  28. Hi Kevin,

Since it seems that you don’t check you emails, I am sending this to you in this fashion. Please respond to this as soon as you get it!

I know that you are busy, we are all busy with everything! However, I did complete your re-write for you, I did email you the updates as I was going, and still I heard nothing and got no email from you regarding that. So, I am now formally going to ask you for my payment that is due to me for the work that I did complete for you!

I take my practice and my work very seriously! I will not tolerate anyone taking me for granted! As such, I don’t feel that I should have to ‘beg’ or ‘plead’ my case with you to get me my money! I know that you have many projects going on right now, so do I. However, I still make time each and every single day to check my emails and respond to those that need responding to. I never just ‘ignore’ an email because I am too busy with something else.

So, again, I am asking, no, I am demanding that you pay me the money that is due to me. This was never a ‘game’ to me. This was never something that I was going to do as a’ hobby’. So, obviously, I want to be paid for my services.

    Thank You,

    Michelle Hermann
